I think it is fine as long as the ViewModel does not know anything about the actual view. I don't like the Prism model yet, but maybe Caliburn (http://caliburn.codeplex.com/documentation) offers something better.

What is your thinking on a good alternative to hooking ICommands to view controls other than exposing them as properties in the view model and binding the properties to the view controls via attached properties via (as one example) the Click. attached behavior in Prism?

Logic for me at least drives solid architecture first by dependency management (decoupled yet interoperable isolated single responsibility assets).

Are you saying the binding of view to view model in this way introduces unnacceptable coupling?
